Senior high school students complete internship at MISSA

MISSA has always been an active advocate and benefactor of the Practicum Program of the Public School System (PSS). This training program, also known as internship, is a requirement of PSS before senior high school students are allowed to graduate. For two months, these students become temporary segments of organizations like MISSA that provide learning venues where students experience the working world. Through observation and reflection of what occurs in the organizational setting, the students may discover how academic interests relate to possible careers, gain meaningful on-the-job experience and training, and connect classroom theory to real-world practice. Interns contribute to the organization by performing meaningful tasks and assignments that are of continuing value to both parties.

For School Year 2022-23, one senior student from Laura High School (LHS), two from the Marshall Islands High School (MIHS) and one from Life Skills Academy (LSA) have completed their two-month internship. During the course of their training, they were able to understand the importance of MISSA in the community and learn basic to more complex hands-on tasks on tax compliance, accounting, claims and benefits and information technology.

On their last day of training, the interns were recognized by the Administration in a simple celebration to value their meaningful experience at MISSA. As a token of appreciation, a certificate of completion and a check will be presented to each of them on their graduation day.
