MISSA is pleased to announce the appointment of a new Information Technology (I.T.) Manager, Patrick “Pat” Anthony dela Cruz and Tax Auditor, Garlynn Jokon.
Pat is an I.T. specialist with more than a decade of experience in the I.T. field. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology from the Central Colleges of the Philippines. Before joining MISSA, he worked for 6 years as an I.T. Administrator for a top local company in Majuro where he maintained the company’s computer systems and servers (Windows & Linux systems), and provided on-premise and remote support. Pat had also a 5-year stint with a school in Majuro as an I.T. Specialist and Computer teacher.
As MISSA’s aging computer system evolved over the past twenty years, data integrity has become an issue. Its system architecture is now outdated and runs the risk of encountering difficulty operating on the latest generation of modern-day computers. Thus, The Administration deemed it imperative to catch up with technology soonest.
On May 22, 2023, MISSA announced that it is upgrading its Visual Fox Pro system and migrating to a new and better database via a Request for Proposals (RFP). Bidding will close on July 21, 2023. The role of an experienced I.T. Specialist is of utmost importance in the success of this planned modernization program of the Administration.
Garlynn Jokon is MISSA’s new Tax Auditor. Her main task involves the review of employers’ payroll records to ascertain whether they have reported and paid the right amounts of wages and corresponding Retirement and Health Fund contributions.
Garlynn is a fresh graduate of the College of the Marshall Islands where she earned an associate degree in Business Accounting and Management. In 2020, she took her high school practicum training at MISSA for two months where she learned basic clerical and accounting functions. She also worked briefly at K & K Supermarket as a part-time cashier in 2022.
WELCOME ABOARD, PAT AND GARLYNN!
